If you think Myolie Wu had some rough Wars of In-Laws opposite Liza Wang, think again. No doubt the experience would allow the popular TVB star to slip into her role of a battle-ready daughter-in-law for her latest period comedy series, but the caliber of her co-stars promises it won't be an easy ride. Myolie is teamed up with Hong Kong comedy veterans Kingdom Yuen, Ng Man Tat, and Cheung Tat Ming, as she and fellow daughter-in-laws Shirley Dai and Yang Rong have to tackle romantic entanglements with Hawick Lau, Mickey He, and Gao Hao. Known for his "women conflict" dramas like Schemes of a Beauty and Concubines of Qing Emperor, famous screenwriter Yu Zheng makes a welcome change with this light-hearted fare boasting humorous dialogues and touching family dramas.
Herself a victim of mismatched marriage (her cousin, the Qing Emperor, matched her with a general who eventually dumped her), Ma Ling Long works as a professional matchmaker to raise her three sons when the imperial days have made way for a republic era. She has clear ideas about what types of women her grown-up sons should marry, but alas, life doesn't always meet one's expectations. Ling Long's upright eldest son Chang Sheng (Hawick Lau) always gets duped, so she wants him to have a decent and clever wife, yet he ends up marrying the miserly Qian Man Guan (Myolie Wu). Middle son Chang Huan (Mickey He) is smart, and Ling Long intends to match him up with a lady from a good family, but whom he loves is the rebellious former princess Tong Jin Yu (Shirley Dai). The youngest son Chang Jun (Gao Hao) comes back from studying overseas, but he only has eyes for Sister Zhu (Yang Rong) who comes from a humble background and is older than him. The three daughter-in-laws make Ling Long's life a living hell, but she knows how to turn them into the perfect wives...
