This film reflects the people's pain, hope, living, and battle in the battlefield through Li Xinqun, Jin Zhu, Liang Ruoying and they three different sufferings and different roads they go across. Li Xinqun is young patriot, and she joins in underground anti-Japan movement, struggles with the traitor and traitorous act bravely; Liang Ruoying reunites with her former husband ZhangYuliang who also joined anti-Japan, but she did not would like to leave her after husband Wang Zhongyuan who is traitor because of greed for material.
