Old Traveller Grandpa Ward David Kelly, never realized the consequences it would bring when he told the story about Tir na nOg to his grandsons Ossie(Ciar'an Fitzgerald) and Tito Rieley(Ruaidhri Conroy).
Papa Riley(Gabriel Byrne) was tired of living a nomadic life and decided to settle with his children in a town near Dublin. He cannot forget his wife who died when Ossie was born.
One day, Papa presents the children with a beautiful white horse named Tir na nOg, and the children soon develop a relationship with it. The horse attacts the attention of a nasty horse trader Noel Hartnett(John Kavanagh)and a crooked police Inspector Bolger(Brendan Glesson), who deviously acquires it. The children's love for the horse drives them to brave acts of stealing it back and they flee to the Irish countryside. Hartnett puts a 5000-pound reward on their head
