Conrent:
Having not found commercial success with his first three films, lngmar Bergman turned to Dagmar Edqvist's adaptation of her own novel. The film tells of young man who after being blinded in a tragic accident brgins a soul searching journey that eventually seesfully combines surreal dream sequences with breathtaking imagery, that served as ecifence that Bergmen was well on his way to becoming the master he is now rightly considered. The film proved hugely popular in Sweden and helped cement its director's position as one of Europe's most promising talents.
