"Galliano's re-orchestrations are simple, lush, and effective. He and his group manage to capture Piazzolla's delicate balance between chamber music and streetwise tango. It's quite a trick as this is a music of both lyricism and bruising power - deeply emotional but ultimately, unsentimental. Galliano's version transcends the notes on the page. It sounds lived-in."
-- Jazzizy Fernando Gonzalez (November 2003)
"Embrace your own musical heritage," is the lesson that Richard Galliano learned from his idol and mentor, the late Argentinean tango master, Astor Piazzolla. In the more than a decade and a half since, Galliano has continued to follow Piazzolla's advice, and with great success. Here, Galliano pays loving tribute to his 'spirtual father.'
